Wedding Ceremony Music

Wedding Ceremony Music

Wedding Prelude
The prelude is designed to provide guests with music while they wait for the ceremony itself to begin. Historically, the prelude includes quiet, and meditative classical music that is designed to evoke the solemnity and joy typical of a marriage ceremony. The prelude generally sets the overall tone for the wedding.

Wedding Processional
The processional is the time when the wedding party enters the ceremony location. Music can be played for the groomsmen, bridesmaids, ringbearer and flower girl. Then a separate musical piece can start when the bride enters and everyone rises to their feet. The length of the processional will vary depending on the number of members in the bridal party and should last until they arrive at their locations.

Wedding Interlude
This music is played to accentuate the various portions of the ceremony, such as a candle lighting by the bride and groom. It can be classical music, but often times is a favorite romantic song of the bride and the groom.

Wedding Recessional
The recessional is the music that is played when the wedding participants are leaving. Typically, the recessional is a happy occasion as the bride and groom are now man and wife. Most wedding participants tend to choose happy or festive music for this portion of the ceremony.

Wedding Postlude
The postlude is the period of music that is played after the bridal party has left and the guests are being dismissed. The DJ will provide some low key, yet festive music for the guests as they are waiting to leave. The music should typically encourage interaction between the guests.
